Balayage is a French Hair Lightening technique. In French, “Balay” means to sweep, and with the technique, we “sweep” on the lightener to apply. This gives you a very natural, sun-kissed, result. A hand-painted balayage is intended to lift the hair in a subtle form and to add the perfect nuance of dimension into the hair. With this technique, we typically leave your roots in their natural color and add in some ribbons of blonde throughout the hair. Since we leave the root color natural and leave out some of your natural ends, the Balayage does not need frequent touch-ups. On average, our Balayage clients return every five months to refresh and to brighten up their Balayage. It is always recommended to visit us between Balayage appointments, about every two months, for a trim, a toner refresh, repair treatment, blow out, and style. This allows your hair to remain fresh for the entire five months.

Balayage is ideal for anyone who has never gone lighter, and they want to try something new. It is also perfect for our clients who are now in college since this technique allows you to grow out your hair much longer than traditional highlights. Traditional highlights require maintenance every 4-8 weeks, where balayage maintenance is suggested every 4-5 months.
Ombre is a style where you leave your roots completely natural and create a more intense gradient color, where your ends are completely lightened. Balayage you have some ribbons of light throughout your hair, and you keep some of your natural hair around your ends. Leaving out some depth with your natural color allows for a dimensional and fuller end result.
We have studied this technique for the last five years and it is always changing. Balayage is a customized technique where we are able to create a completely different style for every client. This is the perfect technique for anyone looking for a low maintenance style. We love the creativity this style allows us to use on each client.
